The Sex Ed Justice Project (SEJP)

In the fall of 2022, sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education provided in schools throughout Northern California was halted due to loss of funding. Comprehensive sexual education is essential for young people to make informed choices about their SRH and to maintain bodily autonomy. After the overturn of Roe v. Wade coupled with legislation restricting reproductive freedom and LGBTQIA+ rights, a small group of dedicated community members mobilized in the North Bay area to fill the existing gap around the provision of accurate sex education for young people.

We are the The SexEd Justice Project and we are passionate about providing medically accurate and inclusive sexual reproductive health education. Our three core activities include: 1) educating youth directly, 2) training teachers and professionals and 3) dreaming towards a world where there is reproductive justice for all. We are on a mission to promote reproductive justice by providing medically accurate sexual health education, training, and information to communities, ensuring that all individuals are equipped to make informed choices about their bodies, sexuality, and reproductive health. We have a vision that students, educators, and community partners are informed and have access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health, thereby empowering every person to make choices with full autonomy as is their right.
